How To Make The Ramos Gin Fizz

The Ramos Gin Fizz is a legendary New Orleans cocktail that is despised by some bartenders due to how much shaking is involved. Here I teach you how to make this milkshake of a cocktail without getting sore the next day. 



EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
  2. Collins glasses
  3. Straw
  4. Angled measuring jigger 
  5. Citrus juice squeezer

Ramos Gin Fizz

  • 2oz (60ml) gin
  • 1/2oz (15ml) lemon juice
  • 1/2oz (15ml) lime juice
  • 1oz (30ml) simple syrup (1:1 ratio sugar:water)
  • 3 dashes orange flower water
  • 1oz (30ml) heavy cream
  • 1 large egg white
  • 2oz (60ml) soda water
  1. Add gin, citrus, cream, and simple syrup to a shaker
  2. Shake with 4 ice cubes for 20 seconds
  3. Double strain out ice, add egg white
  4. Dry shake without ice for 40 seconds
  5. Pour into chilled collins glass
  6. Let sit for one minute
  7. Slowly pour soda water into the center of the foam until it rises above the rim
  8. Dash orange flower water on top
  9. Insert straw and enjoy!
