The 5 Easiest WHISKEY Cocktails

Here are five delicious and dead simple cocktails where the ONLY alcoholic ingredient you need is whiskey. The rest are things you can find in your pantry or a quick trip to the market. This episode also features 5 terrible whiskey puns.



EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)

  2. Angled measuring jigger

  3. Coupe glass

  4. Rocks glass

  5. Irish coffee mug


Irish Coffee

  • 1.5oz (45ml) Irish whiskey

  • Dark coffee

  • 2 sugar cubes or a heaping barspoon of sugar

  • Heavy cream

  1. Fill glass with hot water and dump

  2. Add sugar to coffee glass

  3. Fill up glass 3/4 way

  4. Add whiskey

  5. Lightly whip the cream

  6. Top with cream using a spoon


Old Pepper

  • 2oz (60ml) bourbon

  • .25oz (7ml) Cholula hot sauce

  • .75oz (22ml) fresh lemon juice

  • .5oz (15ml) simple syrup

  • 1 barspoon Worchestershire saurce

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass

  4. Garnish with fresh cracked pepper


Whiskey Sour

  • 2 oz (60ml) bourbon

  • .75 oz (22ml) fresh lemon juice

  • .75 oz (22ml) simple syrup

  • Egg white of 1 large egg (optional)

  • 5-6 drops of aromatic bitters

  1. Chill a coupe glass with ice water, set aside

  2. Add bourbon, lemon, simple syrup, and salt to a cocktail shaker

  3. Add ice, shake, then double strain back into the shaker glass

  4. Discard the ice

  5. Add egg white to the shaker tin

  6. Shake cocktail and egg white together vigorously for 15 seconds

  7. Open pour into coupe glass

  8. Drop bitters on top of egg white foam, and use a pick to swirl into a design


Brown Derby

  • 2oz (60ml) bourbon

  • .5oz (15ml) honey syrup (equal parts honey and water by volume)

  • 1oz (30ml) fresh grapefruit juice

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass


Old Fashioned

  • 2 oz (60ml) bourbon or rye

  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters

  • 1 barspoon maple syrup or simple syrup

  • Lemon twist

    1. Add a large ice cube to a rocks glass

    2. Add whiskey and bitters

    3. Add barspoon of sweetener and stir cocktail for 15 seconds

    4. Garnish with lemon twist
